04 May More than 40 stakeholders working in the management of degraded soils participated in the 1st PhytoSUDOE Workshop
The workshop was held on the 27th of April at the University of Bordeaux (the complete program can be downloaded at the end of this post) and was attended by more than 40 stakeholders from the public administration, scientific community and private enterprise. In addition to leading researchers in the field of phytoremediation, members of public agencies that manage degraded areas in the Basque Country and France and representatives of companies with interest in phytomining or the decontamination of soils attended.
Although most of the stakeholders corresponded to the SUDOE region (southwest of Europe), the workshop was also attended by technicians from central and northern Europe. In this regard, it is worth mentioning the presence of representatives of the INTENSE project, which shares a large part of PhytoSUDOE’s objectives and where great possibilities of collaboration have been identified. In addition to the 14 talks scheduled, a total of 22 posters were presented with works selected by the attendees that could be visited and commented on during the workshop. Finally, to close the workshop, a round table was set up where the participants could interact with the promoters of the workshop on the areas of interest where public-private collaboration may have greater development in the area of the phytomanagement of degraded /contaminated spaces.
The next day (April 28), the PhytoSUDOE annual assembly was held allowing the project partners to discuss the project progress and to organize the work for the coming months. In the afternoon session, a visit was made to the experimental plots S1 and S2 (image).
