PhytoSUDOE has participated in two events related to brownfields in Canada

Within the frameword of the the four-day IUC City-to-City Cooperation Programme Learning Exchange between the City of Windsor and Vitoria-Gasteiz, PhytoSUDOE consortium representative, Juan Vilela, participated in the two-day Annual Municipal Brownfield Workshop held by the city of Windsor and attended to the Canadian Brownfield Netwok Annual Conference in Toronto.

In the Annual Municipal Brownfield Workshop Juan Vilela, explained the “Green Solutions for soil remediation in Vitoria-Gasteiz”. The presentation covered some pollution removal green tecnhiques, such as the “phytoremediation” actions taken in sites S5 Ariñez and S6 Jundiz implemented trough the PhytoSUDOE project.  The different ways plants are used to reduce contamination in soils was summarized to the audicence, and phytomanagement was highlighted as a good and low cost option for longterm projects.

Later on, Juan Vilela attended to the 9th Annual Canadian Brownfield Network conference under the title of ¨Revitalizing Brownfields: Enriching Communities¨
