22 Jun Recent progress in the Vitoria-Gasteiz municipality´s plots (Jundiz)
Actions on the plots:
After the replanting of the dead poplars and willows carried out during the months of February-April in the plots S5 (S5a and S5b; contaminated soils) and S6 (degraded soils); during the month of May the corresponding subplots were inoculated with fungi and bacteria (bioaugmentation).
Besides, sunflower planting was carried out in plot S6, and plot S5a was replanted with alfalfa (after a poor settlement last year). Before these plantations, vegetation clearings were made. In addition, field trips have been carried out with the help of the botanist of the City Council of Vitoria-Gasteiz to make a characterization of herbaceous ruderal species on Plot S5b.

Dissemination/Training actions:
On May 17, teachers and students of the Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering from the Engineers School of Bilbao (University of the Basque Country; UPV/EHU) came to our workplace, and they were given a talk about the soil restoration projects that are being carried out in the municipality of Vitoria-gasteiz.
Later a field trip was made to see these projects in situ, among them PhytoSUDOE phytoremediation plots.
